Jag Basketball is a youth basketball program (AAU) that focuses on the fundamentals of the game of basketball, while developing young men and women into people of character.

Mission

JAG Basketball provides youth in the San Gabriel Valley with elite basketball training and travel team experiences that prepare them for the rigors of high school basketball and beyond, while influencing and inspiring their successes as student athletes.

Team Structure

At JAG Basketball we focus on disciplined, organized basketball. We want to prepare our kids for high school varsity basketball at minimum. We execute the same offensive and defensive systems at every level and every team. So as kids grow within the JAG program, they’re skills grow within the system. At same time, all players basketball IQ, conditioning and basketball skills improve simultaneously.

Coach – Jelani Gardner

Coach Jelani Gardner was Southern California raised. He played his first two seasons of high school basketball at Bishop Amat, in La Puente. At Bishop Amat, Gardner was named a varsity starter as a 14 year old freshmen. He was named first team All San Gabriel Valley, first team Angelus league and First team All CIF as a freshmen. As a sophomore at Amat, Gardner continued his ascension to greatness. He avg 25 pts a game, while scoring a school record 51 points in a game against Santa Margarita High School.

Gardner transferred his junior year to St. John Bosco High School. His senior year he led the braves to CIF and California State Championship. Coach Gardner was named California State Player of the year. As well as the number one rated high school point guard in the USA. Gardner was named a USA Today First team All American. Gardner chose to attend Cal Berkeley, out of Arizona, UCLA, and Arkansas. Gardner finished his career at Pepperdine University. Gardner was on the top 60 players in the world invited to the draft camp in Chicago. That’s where drs discovered a kidney disease. Gardner never passed the NBA physical and was not drafted. He continue his career in Europe. He played a total of 12 seasons. Israel, Germany, Russia, Greece, France and Australia.

JAG Basketball is devoted to the development of youth basketball players both physically and mentally. Helping young student athletes develop a strong work ethic, peak physical condition, and proper technique.
